Dessert Palace Ruins

Today, not much remains of the luxurious palace in Makram where Sapphira spent a good part of her adult life. Only part of the ramparts are still standing, the rest I suspect was carried off by the towns-people and used to build new buildings and dwellings in Makram. Why was the palace abandoned? Was it destroyed and looted of its treasure and harem girls by invading armies, or were the occupants killed by some plague or pestilence?

There are no signs of the water that once fed the palace. Perhaps a geological event or shift disrupted the flow of water and the desert reclaimed its own.

Kasre el Nouzha translates as Castle of Pleasure.
